PERIODONTOLOGY To play, press and hold the enter key. To stop, release the enter key. Periodontology is the specialty of dentistry that deals with the tissues around the teeth (periodontium: gum and bone) and the diseases that can affect these tissues. Healthy periodontium is very important in maintaining natural dentition because it is the support of the teeth in the oral cavity. When the periodontium is diseased, the preservation of the dentition is compromised. The two important periodontal diseases are gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is inflammation that is limited to the gums only and causes them to bleed. In more advanced stages, periodontal disease progresses deeper into the bone and is called periodontitis. Periodontal disease can affect one or more teeth. The main cause of the disease is dental plaque (a sticky, colorless film that forms firmly on the gums). Other aggravating factors are smoking, heredity, stress, diabetes, medications, systemic diseases, eating habits, pregnancy. Periodontal diseases are treated. In particular, the treatment of gingivitis consists of removal (removal of tartar-tartar by professional cleaning) and proper oral hygiene. Gingivitis with proper care is completely reversible. However, if proper measures and treatment are not taken, gingivitis can develop into the more advanced disease of periodontitis. The treatment of periodontitis is divided into conservative and surgical phases.

  • Teethan / Occlusion Analysis | Nikos Loukopoulos

Teeth/Occlusion Analysis Dental occlusion refers to contact between the maxillary teeth or maxillary teeth and the mandibular teeth or mandibular teeth. Static dental occlusion refers to the contact between the teeth when the jaw is at rest and dynamic occlusion occurs when the jaw is moving, such as during chewing or chewing. Proper occlusion is important for dental health and general health. When the tips of the mandibular teeth come into full contact with the tips of the upper teeth, the occlusal position is called maximum interference. The cusps of a tooth are the protruding parts at the top of the tooth, as opposed to the central groove at the top of the tooth. The natural position achieved during maximum occlusion is called central occlusion or the usual bite. This occlusion can also be called the bite of convenience or occlusal position (ICP) and in simple terms it means the natural position of the teeth when the teeth are fully bitten. Dental occlusion depends on bone structure, muscles, nerves, tooth structure and sometimes posture. . An incorrect dental occlusion – in this case we call it a bad occlusion – can negatively affect chewing, swallowing and posture, causing dental problems, muscle tension, headaches, neck pain, joint problems and uncomfortable closing sensations. oral. With Teethan , the dentist is able to assess the patient's chewing condition in a few seconds, without the use of invasive tools. In fact, Teethan is the first completely wireless medical device that, at the end of the visit, provides a digital report that easily shows the patient's chewing condition.

DENTAL SURGERY By the term dental surgery we mean the prevention and treatment of the hard dental tissues of enamel and dentin. The main cause of the destruction of hard dental tissues is caries. Other causes can be tooth corrosion, abrasion, molar fracture, discoloration, etc. Surgical removal of an impacted or semi-impacted third molar (wisdom) Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to come out (erup) in the mouth and this usually happens after the age of 18. Their emergence is sometimes accompanied by other problems. If there is no space then they may not erupt at all, or as you say remain trapped within the jaw bone or even partially erupt_cc781905-5cde-3194 bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ so they are called semi-enclosed. There are two main reasons for the removal of a wisdom tooth, the existence of peristephanitis and orthodontic reasons. In the case of periostephanitis, the wisdom tooth is removed to relieve the patient, since periostephanitis over time takes on a chronic form, with flare-ups and remissions, and therefore constantly troubles the patient. In the event that the extraction is done for orthodontic purposes, the main reason is the increased pressure exerted by the respective wisdom tooth (which has erupted with an incorrect inclination) on its front teeth, with the possible result of the turning or crowding of the teeth and therefore the poor functional and esthetic arrangement of the teeth. Tooth extraction Tooth extraction is the minor surgical procedure performed in the mouth during which a tooth is removed. Today, due to the great progress of dental science as well as the more correct population information about oral hygiene we have as a result much fewer teeth extracted compared to the past . Advanced periodontitis, severely damaged teeth that cannot be restored, extensive tooth fractures, impacted or partially impacted teeth are some of the indications for tooth extraction. There are cases where it is possible during an extraction that a fracture of the root of the tooth in question follows in the socket, so the dentist is forced to proceed with the so-called surgical extraction. the part of the root of the tooth that is broken, the removal is done and then the wound is sutured. Ulcerectomy A gingivectomy is a relatively simple periodontal surgery. It usually involves removing a small portion of the gums surrounding one or more teeth. It is done in cases where the doctor decides that diseased gum tissues should be removed or for the correct seating of a fixed prosthetic work (bridge or crown) or even to improve the aesthetic image of the patient. Tooth acrorhizectomy A root rhizectomy is a small surgical procedure whose purpose is to remove damage that affects the end of the root of a tooth. With it we reveal and cut the end of the root of a tooth with the simultaneous removal of the surrounding pathological tissues and blocking of the remaining hole with a special blocking material. It is performed on teeth that show persistent inflammation, even after endodontic treatment (denervation), due to the presence of living microbial residues or on teeth with a persistent presence of a cyst at their tip. Many such inflammatory lesions can also be treated conservatively, with a combination of endodontic treatment when they are in the initial stages. However, when the alteration is clearly formed then the intervention is deemed necessary.

MOBILE ADDITIONAL ΚΙΝΗΤΗ ΠΡΟΣΘΕΤΙΚΗ ΚΙΝΗΤΗ ΠΡΟΣΘΕΤΙΚΗ 1/1 There are cases when the lack of teeth creates the need to make mobile prostheses. In modern Dentistry it is possible to manufacture them such prostheses that are as much as possible a copy of the patient's natural teeth and convenient for him. They can replace some or all of the teeth in the barrier and be supported by teeth, soft tissues, implants or a combination of these. ORAL SURGERY Oral Surgery or Oral Surgery includes the surgical pathology and surgery of the oral cavity, i.e. the study of surgical techniques and the pathology of diseases that are treated by surgery within the anatomical limits of the oral cavity. The oldest and most widespread oral surgery is tooth extraction. Other examples are the treatment of trapped teeth, cysts, abscesses, etc. Surgical extraction is the method by which a tooth is removed after creating a flap and removing part of the surrounding bone. This method is relatively simple and quick, without bothering the patient, as long as the rules governing the basic surgical technique are followed. The main indications for surgical extraction are: Teeth that show unusual root morphology or have strongly bent apices .

Treatments include: Surgical Dentistry (infected teeth, dental cysts, implants, etc.), facial injuries, problems in the salivary glands, cancers in the mouth and throat area, various facial deformities, oral diseases (cancer, mouth ulcers, erythroplakia / oral leukoplakia) and temporomandibular joint dysfunctions._cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ Maxillofacial surgery also specializes in complex corrective operations on the face and neck, which may require tissue transplantation from other parts of the body (free flaps). The modern needs of oral and maxillofacial surgery require the use of modern scientific and technological means to provide quality and safe services to patients. Our purpose is the safe provision of these specialized services to our patients. Dental implants are designed to replace missing teeth in a way that looks, functions, and feels just like the patient's natural teeth. A person who has lost teeth by placing implants regains the ability to eat as before, smile with comfort and confidence and meet his social obligations knowing that his teeth look completely natural, and that the bone in his jaws will not absorbed and the appearance of his face will not change. These are small titanium screws that are placed in the jaws, in place of natural teeth, and play the role of the root of the missing tooth. The bone is connected to the titanium so strongly that this titanium screw, that is, can support an artificial tooth on it. By replacing the missing teeth we create the conditions so that the bone of the alveolar ridge is not absorbed. This is very important because the bone resorption that occurs after the loss of natural teeth changes the physiognomy of the face, which looks tired, aged and shy. We can replace one tooth, replace more than one missing teeth or even all teeth.

endodontics endodontia-2 endodontia endodontia-2 1/2 Endodontics is the specialty of dentistry that deals with the treatment of the inside of the tooth, the pulp, which is normally protected by the hard dental tissues. When enamel and dentin suffer some damage (caries, fracture) a path of microbes is created to the pulp, which begins to inflame and create problems at the edge of the tooth root which can be a cyst, swelling and pain. Endodontic treatment (denervation) allows the problem tooth to remain in the mouth, maintaining its ability to chew, without pain, even if its vital function has been destroyed. The goal of endodontic treatment (denervation) is to keep the tooth in our mouth. Endodontic treatment must be done very carefully because the success of this treatment essentially depends on the tooth remaining in the mouth. Most of the time, endodontic treatment needs to be combined with other treatments, such as periodontal treatment. After the endodontic treatment, it is necessary to restore the denervated tooth with a seal or specialized prosthetic constructions, when there is a large loss of dental substance due to caries or fracture.
